There are some products sold in the Spanish market, whose Denominación de origen (a prestigious product classification which is awarded only to determined products) instantly recalls Segovian lands: wood from Valsaín, slates from Bernardos, glass from La Granja, roast piglet from Segovia, roast lamb from Sepúlveda, Bezoya water, whisky DYC or Catellana anise. Human skills and nature are joined to create high-quality products.

Currently, Segovian economy is quite diversified; it is based on agriculture, cattle-raising, construction industry, feeding products exportations and tourism.

The most famous agricultural products are carrots from Mozoncillos, potatoes from Riofrio de Riaza, chickpeas from Valseca, endives from Sanchonuño, garlic from Vallelado and pine kernels from Fresneda and Mata de Cuéllar.

The province is one of the main cattle producers in Spain: lambs from Sepulveda and Comarca de la Churrería, calf from Pradena and the rest of villages close to the mountains; ducks and recently introduced ostriches from El Carracillo are famous in all the country.


It is worth mentioning the products obtained from the pig: chorizo, salchichón, morcillas, lomos, hams from Cantimpalos, Bernuy de Porreros, Segovia, Carbonero el Mayor, Tabanera la Luenga, Coca, Bernardos, Villacastín, Gomeserracín, El Arenal or La Matilla.


There are some kinds of cheese made in Navas de San Antonio, Cuéllar, La Lastrilla, Espirdo, Aldeonte, Losana de Pirón, Tolocirio, Armuña and Valleruela de Riaza. And, finally, there are also many delicious desserts as rosquiilas fritas, rosquillas de palo, pastas ciegas, florones…


Awarded with a Denominación de origen mark, Rueda, Segovia produces white wines in Nieva and Santiuste de San Juan Bautista, and red wines in Sacramenta, Valtiendas, Fuentidueñas and Cabañas de Polendos.

To sum up, we cannot forget talking about handy craft art: it is an activity based on tradition and beauty, that have created many decorative products, such us cloths made in Punto Segoviano style, typical Segovian costumes, wicker bags and tin products from Pedraza, as well as the objects made by potters, glaziers and weavers.
